This collection of royal decrees contains, from the year 1792, p. 69, the world's first decree to prohibit the slave trade. “Forordning om neger-handelen” prohibited the trade of newly enslaved Africans across the Atlantic from the year 1803, but not the trade of already enslaved people between Caribbean islands. England and the United States followed with decrees against the slave trade in 1807, The Netherlands and Portugal in 1814 and France and Spain in 1815.
