Festivalauktion på Refshaleøen

Tag med til traditionel kunstauktion hos Copenhagen Contemporary på Refshaleøen, når vi svinger hammeren over værker af en stribe yngre, særligt udvalgte fotokunstnere på Copenhagen Photo Festival 2019.

Dette års Copenhagen Photo Festivalauktion byder på værker, der udfordrer sanserne, leger med billedkunstens klassiske formsprog – fra portrætgenren til landskabsmotivet – og som rummer både psykologisk drama, politisk kritik og humor. Værker, der også sætter temaer som fremmedhed, flygtighed og miljø under lup, og som er skabt af spirende, internationale kunstnere.

25 kunstnere kom igennem nåleøjet

Som tidligere år stammer værkerne på dette års festivalauktion fra Den Censurerede Udstilling, der i år er udstillet på Maskinværkstedet på Refshaløen. 25 internationale kunstnere fra 11 lande kommet igennem nåleøjet, udvalgt blandt 360 ansøgere af en international og professionel jury. Juryen består af kunstner og kunstkritiker Balder Olrik, chefredaktør for det hollandske FOAM magazine, Elise Medde og kurator på Helsinki Art Museum, Claire Gould.

Som noget nyt kan du i år læse juryens begrundelse for at udvælge kunstneren under hvert enkelt værk på bruun-rasmussen.dk. Her kan du også lægge bud på auktionen helt frem til kl. 16.55 den 16. juni. Alle bud fra nettet overføres herefter til auktionssalen, hvor hammeren falder på traditionel vis.

Traditionel auktion i nye rammer

Det er også nyt, at auktionen i år foregår på Refshaleøen, nærmere betegnet Københavns internationale kunstcenter, Copenhagen Contemporary. Det er gratis at komme ind til auktionen, og alle er naturligvis meget velkomne. Ønsker man at byde, er det en god ide at komme lidt før kl. 17, så man kan registrere sig og få udleveret et bydeskilt.

Æstetisk og konceptuel diversitet

Målet for udstillingen og auktionen er at præsentere et udvalg af det bedste og nyeste inden for kunstfotografi og formidle det for et bredt publikum – fra nye, unge kunstsamlere til de etablerede. 

Årets udvalg afspejler diversiteten i nutidigt fotografi, æstetisk såvel som konceptuelt. ”Værkerne tydeliggør fotografiets styrke til at udtrykke både det materielle og flygtige med både umiddelbarhed og kompleksitet,” skriver Jurymedlem, Claire Gould om dette års udvalg af værker.

Festival Auction on Refshaleøen

Join the Live Auction at Copenhagen Contemporary on Refshaleøen, where we will auction off works by a group of younger, specially selected international photo artists at Copenhagen Photo Festival 2019.

This year’s Copenhagen Photo Festival Auction presents works that challenge the senses and play with the classical idioms of art – from the portrait genre to the landscape motif. The works contain both psychological dramas, political criticism and humour, and they focus on themes such as otherness, volatility and the environment. All of the works are created by emerging, international artists.

25 Artists Made It Through the Eye of the Needle

As in previous years, the works at this year’s festival auction come from The Censored Exhibition, which this year is exhibited at the Maskinværkstedet(Machine Shop) on Refshaleøen. 25 international artists from 11 countries have made the cut and were selected among 360 applicants by an international and professional jury. The jury consists of artist and art critic Balder Olrik, editor-in-chief of the Dutch FOAM magazine Elise Medde and curator of the Helsinki Art Museum Claire Gould.

As something new, this year you can read the jury’s argument for selecting the exhibited artist under each of their works at bruun-rasmussen.dk. Here, you can also place bids for the auction right up until 4:55pm on 16 June. All the bids from the web will then be transferred to the saleroom, where the hammer will fall in the traditional way at a Live Auction.

A Traditional Auction in A New Setting

That the auction this year takes place on Refshaleøen is also something new. More specifically, the auction will take place at Copenhagen Contemporary, Copenhagen’s international art centre. It is free of charge to visit the auction, and everyone is of course welcome at the event. If you want to bid, it is a good idea to come a little before 5pm, so you can get registered and receive a bidding paddle.

Aesthetic and Conceptual Diversity

The aim of the exhibition and the auction is to present a selection of the best and newest within art photography and convey these works to a wide audience – from young art collectors just starting out to more established connoisseurs.

This year’s selection of works reflects the diversity of contemporary photography, aesthetically as well as conceptually. “The works emphasize the strength of photography to express both the material and the volatile with immediacy and complexity,” writes jury member Claire Gould about this year’s selection of works.
